Jessica Formoso Biography
Jessica Formoso is an American journalist currently working for Fox 5 News as a reporter since joining the station in August 2015. Before joining Fox 5, Jessica worked as a general assignment bilingual reporter for News 12 networks, including News 12 En Español.
Jessica started her college located in 2006 when she enrolled at Hofstra University, a private school located in Hempstead, New York on Long Island. At the college, Formoso joined the University’s student news organization Hofstra News Now.
Jessica worked as both an anchor and reporter for the student-run network and spent much of her free time producing weekly newscasts, writing news stories, and organizing reports. In 2011, she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in economics.
During her last year of college Formoso got a job as a production assistant with News 12 Long Island, a local station based in Woodbury. She worked as an assistant reporter, anchor, and field producer. After her graduation, she continued working for News 12, this time in their Spanish channel, News 12 En Español. Jessica served the station as a bilingual producer, where she translated news stories from English to Spanish, produced web content & maintained the channel’s social media accounts.
For her work at the station, Formoso won the Best TV – General News award from the Garden State Journalists. Moreover, she is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and has received recognition for her series about the American Dream.
In August 2015, Jessica joined Fox 5 News from News 12 networks where she worked as a general assignment bilingual reporter.
