Jim Rosenfield Biography
Jim Rosenfield is an American news anchor currently working for WCAU-TV, the NBC-owned television station in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Additionally, he mostly co-anchored the weekend evening newscasts on WRC-TV in Washington, D.C. At times, he is seen on the newscasts at noon, 5, 6, and 11 pm at WCBS-TV, his last day with the station was May 22, 2008, after the 6 pm newscast.
Rosenfield began his profession after graduating from Duke University in 1981. He began his career as a general assignment reporter at WTVD-TV in Durham, North Carolina. Jim then went to KTRK-TV in Houston, where he worked as a reporter and then an anchor. He eventually relocated to Chicago, where he worked at WLS-TV as a reporter and weekend anchor. In 1998, he relocated to New York and began working for WCBS-TV, where he co-anchored the noon newscast with Cindy Hsu and the 5 p.m. program with Lisa Cooley.
After a contract disagreement with WCBS, he moved to competitor station WNBC-TV, where he co-anchored the 5 p.m. broadcast (“Live at Five”) with Sue Simmons. He departed WNBC in 2005 and returned to WCBS in June of that year to take over for Ernie Anastos, who had left WCBS for a five-year, $10 million contract at WNYW-TV. He was one of Dianne Doctor’s new hires at WNBC, where he had previously worked. Rosenfield was able to become a lead male anchor at a local New York station as a result of this move, which he would not have been able to do if he had stayed at WNBC.
Rosenfield co-anchored CBS 2 News at 5 and CBS 2 News at 11 with Roz Abrams from June 2005 to April 2006. He left the 5 p.m. program in April 2006 to join Dana Tyler at 6 p.m., while keeping the 11 p.m. show. Roz’s hours had changed to noon and 5 p.m.
New station managers relocated him and Dana Tyler to the noon and 6 p.m. newscasts at WCBS in June 2007. The same producers that demoted the seasonal news reporter chose to rehire him as the noon and 6 p.m. newscaster in May 2008. Rosenfield will leave the station after the 6 p.m. newscast on May 22nd, with no further job offers. As part of huge CBS layoffs, the station has chosen to let him go.
Rosenfield will begin working as a weekend news anchor for WRC-TV in Washington, D.C. on June 4, 2012, as stated on June 1, 2012. Rosenfield joined WCAU-TV in Philadelphia as a weekday anchor at 4, 6, and 11 p.m. in September 2013.
