Jimmy O. Yang is an American actor, stand-up comedian, and writer. He is best known for appearing as Dr. Chan Kaifang in the Netflix comedy series Space Force, as Jian-Yang in the HBO comedy series Silicon Valley, and as Josh Lin in the comedy film Love Hard. Yang was born in Hong Kong but raised in Los Angeles, California. He acquired his basic education from John Burroughs Middle School and later enrolled at Beverly Hills High School.
After high school, he furthered his studies at California University in San Diego, where he graduated with a degree in economics. His career began when he did a stand-up set at the Ha Ha Comedy Club in North Hollywood, Los Angeles. He has also worked as a car seller at a strip club and seated customers at a comedy club.After that, he signed up with Central Casting, due to their low barrier of entry, and with various casting websites.
Later on, he made his first television debut on the CBS series 2 Broke Girls as well as appeared on The Arsenio Hall Show. Thereafter, Yang starred as Tang-See in season 9 of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
