Joel Haslam Biography
Joel Haslam is a Canadian journalist who is currently working as a multi-skilled journalist at CTV News Ottawa. He has been in television broadcasting at CTV News for more than 35 years. He is the longtime host and producer of Regional Contact on CTV News Ottawa. Regional Contact is a segment that champions the stories of everyday people engaged in extraordinary and inspiring adventures.
His storytelling has been honored numerous times by the Radio-Television News Directors Association in Canada. He is in fact a recipient of the prestigious Dave Rogers Award, presented to the journalist producing and reporting the best national television feature. Recently, he received an international Edward R. Murrow Award.
Haslam is quite learned and holds a combined Honors Degree in Journalism and Political Science from Carleton University. Besides his journalism work, he teaches in the Television Broadcasting program at Algonquin College in Ottawa. He currently resides in Chelsea and spends most of his free time listening to good music or doing some outdoor activity.
