John Telich Biography
John Telich is an American Journalist who is currently working as a sports anchor for Fox 8 on the weeknights and produces a variety of features, in addition to serving as a veteran correspondent on many key events. In addition, he tackles tough physical assignments, such as flying with the Navy’s Blue Angles.
Prior to joining his current station as a sports anchor in September 1980, he was assistant sports director of WIVB-TV in Buffalo, New York. A graduate of Euclid High and Ashland College, John began his career in Ashland, Ohio, in 1972.
An 11-time Emmy Award winner, he has won numerous awards for his coverage of Cleveland sports, both professional and high school. His features have been honored by UPI, AP, and The Press Club of Cleveland. In 2007, he was named to the Hall of Fame by the Cleveland Association of Broadcasters. Following this, he won the Chuck Heaton Award from the Cleveland Press Club.
A Euclid native, John has completed over 100 triathlons in the past 27 years, including three Ironman Distance races, In 2012, he completed the Burning River 100 Mile Ultra Marathon in just over 29 hours.
