Jon Paepcke Biography
Jon Paepcke is an American journalist currently working at WVTM 13, NBC 13, in Birmingham, Alabama as a news anchor and reporter. He joined the station’s team in November of 2002. Previously, Paepcke served as a news reporter at WRBL in Columbus, Georgia from June 1997 to October 2002.
Jon likes to use his curiosity for the truth and investigative background to reveal the hidden stories that people want to see. Since Paepcke’s arrival in the Magic City, he has uncovered several stories of consumer fraud and government corruption. Jon has spent more time covering several high-profile federal fraud trials, such as the corporate fraud case against HealthSouth founder Richard Scrushy, former Governor Don Siegelman’s fraud trial, and the bribery trial against former Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford. Moreover, he has also contributed to the station’s extensive coverage of April 27, 2011, tornadoes.
Luckily, Paepcke has received television news awards throughout his career, such as the Alabama Broadcasters Association Award for Best Reporter and Associated Press Awards for Best Spot News Coverage and Best Investigative Report.
Jon is a native of the Riverside City of Columbus. He graduated in 1997 from the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia, with a Broadcast News degree, as well as radio, and television broadcasting technology.
