Juliet Dragos is an American journalist who presently works at WZZM 13 News as a weeknight anchor. She joined the station team in April 1991. Dragos anchors the station’s newscasts at 5, 6, and 11 p.m. Moreover, she is the station spokesperson for WZZM 13’s Friends For Life campaign, which encourages monthly breast self-exams for early detection of breast cancer. Juliet launched the Friends for Life campaign in 1997 and has served as emcee and honorary co-chair of Race for the Cure for almost two decades.
Juliet attended a local high school in Western Pennsylvania. In 2009, she was inducted into the Alumni Hall of Fame. After completing her high school education, she enrolled at Point Park University, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in broadcast journalism.
Special Olympics Michigan is her passion. She has been a member of the Board of Directors for five years and is the current Chair. Dragos also spent more than 20 years as the emcee of the State Summer Games in Mt. Pleasant. She participates in Special Olympics Michigan tournaments all throughout the state as a volunteer. Juliet was inducted into the Silver Circle of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in 2013 for her contributions to the television business during a 25-year span. She was nominated for an Emmy for her performance as a news anchor the same year. She’s also been nominated for the Athena Award, which honors women who help other women advance in their careers.
She’s also received the American Women in Radio and Television’s “Professionalism Award,” Grand Rapids Komen for the Cure’s “Local Hero Award,” Special Olympics Michigan’s “Outstanding Media Award” twice, and an award from the “Brain Injury Association of Michigan” for her many years of volunteer work in raising awareness of patients and families affected by brain injuries.
