Kathryn Tappen is a renowned American sportscaster currently working on NBC Sports Group’s coverage of the Notre Dame Football, Football Night in America as well as the Summer and Winter Olympic Games among others.

In her nearly two-decade-long career, Tappen has served as the host of programs like NHL Live and NHL Tonight. She also worked as a reporter for Football Night America, and as a contributing reporter for NBC Sports’ coverage of the Super Bowl in 2015 and 2018.

Tappen worked for the NHL Network for four years before joining the NBC Sports Group (2011-2015). NHL Tonight, the network’s weekly highlight program, was her first gig as host. Prior to that, Tappen worked for the New England Sports Network (NESN) for five years, where she served as the primary studio host for Boston Bruins games and covered the Boston Celtics, Boston Red Sox, and New England Patriots.

At Providence, Rhode Island’s NBC station WJAR, Tappen also worked as a daily sports reporter and weekend anchor. In 2003, she started her work with College Sports Television. In 2006, Tappen was also recognized by the Associated Press for her sports article, “Swim Meet.”

In the 2021 NFL season, Tappen covered four NBC Sunday Night Football contests, the Rams-Buccaneers NFL Divisional Playoff Game, and the Raiders-Bengals Wild Card Game as a sideline reporter.

Additionally, Tappen worked on four NBC Olympic assignments. She hosted USA Network’s coverage of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games from Tokyo. She has also covered beach volleyball at the 2016 Rio Olympics and hosted hockey for PyeongChang 2018 and Sochi 2014.

Beginning with the 2022 calendar year, Tappen’s responsibilities expanded to include the main interviewer for NBC Sports’ golf coverage of the PGA TOUR and major championships.
