Matthew John Dowd is a renowned American political analyst and consultant. He was the chief strategist for the Bush–Cheney presidential campaign in 2004 and a political analyst for ABC News. On September 29, 2021, Dowd launched his candidacy for Texas lieutenant governor as a Democrat against incumbent Dan Patrick. He announced the end of his campaign on December 7, 2021.
While attending college in St. Louis, Missouri, Matthew worked as a political consultant for Rep. William Broomfield’s R-MI campaign and for Governor Joseph P. Teasdale’s D-Mo campaign. Louis, Missouri. He also worked on Rep. Dick Gephardt’s (D-MO) staff.
