Katie Emmer is an American journalist who is currently working as an on-air host and reporter at Bally Sports North. She joined the network in August 2021 after having worked for FOX Sports North. Before she joined the FOX network, she worked as a reporter for NBC Sports Philadelphia. Being a sports enthusiast, Emmer is passionate about people and storytelling.
Emmer attended and graduated from St. Cloud State University in August 2018. While in college, she was a competitive 3 sports athlete who played volleyball, softball, and basketball since high school. Although she planned to play softball, she switch plans at the last minute landing her on the Women’s Basketball team at Hilo, at the University of Hawaii. She later went back to her hometown, Minnesota, and joined St. Cloud State University.
While there, she fell in love with broadcast journalism during her first year while working for the Husky Hockey Men’s and Women’s teams. She worked as the Rink Side reporter and also as an In-Studio Host for St. Cloud State Hockey. Emmer also joined an award-winning student crew, Husky Productions. They covered live games that aired on Fox Sports North in the Greater Minneapolis-ST. Paul area.
In 2021, Katie lost her job at NBC Sports Philadelphia after she took a job in Pennsylvania. She formerly worked as a Minnesota Wild reporter before moving to Philadelphia in September 2019. Her move to Philadelphia came as a result of losing her job at FSN. Having been employed as a full-time reporter at an FSN in 2018, she was also named the first woman to win the Jim Nantz Award in the same year.
