Keegan-Michael Key Biography
Keegan-Michael Key is an American comedian, screenwriter and actor who is set to star in the upcoming Super Mario 2023 movie. He made his acting debut by starring in Get Hell Out of Hamtown Back (1997), Garage: A Rock Saga and joining the cast of Mad TV during its ninth season back in 2004., Keegan and his Mad TV co-star Jordan Peele also went on to star in their own show called Key & Peele on Comedy Central from 2012 to 2015.
Key was born to mixed-race parents who lived in Southfield, Michigan, USA. However, he was abandoned by his biological parents when he was young. Therefore, Keegan was adopted by his foster parents who worked as social workers based in Detroit. Just like his biological parents, his foster mother is a white woman while his father is a black man.
Keegan finished his middle school and high school studies in Detroit. He then joined the University of Detroit Mercy where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre back in 1993. Keegan then advanced his studies and earned his Master of Fine Arts degree in theater from Pennsylvania State University in 1996. He then made his debut in acting by appearing in Get the Hell Out of Hamtown Back. In 2004, Key joined Madd TV and gained a lot of fame because of the casting against Jordan Peele’s character.

This attention landed Key and Jordan the chance to star in their own Comedy Central series called Key & Peele from 2012 to 2015. He also spent almost six seasons starring on Mad TV before leaving to star on Key & Peele. Eventually, Key landed major roles in movies like CW’s Whose Line is It Anyway. He has even appeared in other films and TV shows like Horrible Bosses 2, Pitch Perfect 2 (2015), Dont Think Twice and Dolemite is my name among others. In 2014, he starred in The Lego Movie and gained a lot of recognition from the producers. These producers have now given Key the opportunity to star in the upcoming Super Mario 2023 film.
