Kelly Avellino is a renowned American journalist currently working as a news anchor of NBC12 News Today Saturday and a multimedia journalist for NBC12 News, in Richmond, Virginia. Prior to joining NBC12 News, Kelly worked as a reporter, weekend anchor, and producer at NBC11 News for two years.
Avelino attended Montclair State University and later graduated with a Master’s degree in Broadcast Journalism at Columbia University. After her graduation, she spent several years working behind the camera for the News 12 Networks in NJ/NY and at the former New Jersey, United States, Network News.
Kelly started her career as a reporter on far-reaching stories from Black Lives Matter protests to the homicide of UVA student, Hannah Graham by a serial killer. However, her most captivating stories include that of a young boy living with a rare form of dwarfism, a story that earned her an Emmy nomination.
