Kimberly Hunt is an Emmy Award-winning San Diego news reporter, chief anchor, and managing editor for KGTV. In her career, Kimberly has interviewed sitting Presidents, Oprah Winfrey, and another military, political, and business leaders. In addition, she has reported live from the Super Bowl games, the Academy Awards, political conventions, and other events.
Hunt was born in Ventura, California but was raised in Napa. She graduated from San Diego State University, where she worked as a radio news reporter for KVON/KVYN Radio in Napa during her college years.
Hunt worked for ABC Network News as a researcher for Peter Jennings during the Democratic National Convention in San Francisco in 1984 after graduating. She went on to work as an associate producer for ABC’s Monday Night Football after that.
Kimberly began her television career as a reporter for a CBS affiliate in Monterey, California. Hunt later moved to San Diego to work as an anchor for ABC affiliate KGTV in 1987. Kimberly co-anchored the evening newscasts with Carol LeBeau for 6 years, making them the longest-running female anchor team in the United States.
In October of 2002, Hunt became a member of the KUSI News team. She hosted the weeknight newscasts at 6 p.m., 10 p.m., and 11 p.m. for five years. Hunt also hosted the San Diego People weekend show. She returned to the 10News staff in January 2008. She is currently the chief & primary anchor as well as the managing editor at KGTV, where she co-hosts the weeknight newscasts with Steve Atkinson at 4 p.m., 6 p.m., 7 p.m., and 11 p.m.
