Kipchumba Murkomen Biography
Kipchumba Murkomen is a Kenyan Lawyer and a current sitting minister for Transport in Kenya. He is a close ally of the Kenyan President, Dr. Wiliam Ruto. Kipchumba is among the fore-founders of the United Republican Party (URP), a Jubilee subsidiary.
Senator Kipchumba was voted in as the Senator for Elgeyo-Marakwet County in 2013 on a URP ticket, winning against the late Nicholas Biwott among other renowned politicians. In 2017, Murkomen was easily re-elected on a jubilee ticket beating former Inspector General David Kimaiyo.

Murkomen started having an interest in politics at a young age when he was in high school. He was first elected as the dining hall captain at his high school. He later joined the University of Nairobi and got elected as the first second-year student to hold the position of chairman of the Kenya Law Society. This is the era when the student union had been banned hence becoming a key instrument in reforming it.
He became a member of the United Republican Party in 2012. In February 2013, he made a coalition with TNA to form the Jubilee Alliance, a party that voted for him in 2013. In March 2013, Murkomen was elected the Senator of Elgeyo-Marakwet County
Apart from politics, he is also a Lecturer at the Catholic University of East Africa, Moi University, and the University of Nairobi. He is also a political analyst.
In 2022, Kipchumba was appointed the minister for transport by the 5th Kenyan president, Dr. William Samoei Ruto.
