Lauren Lowrey Biography
Lauren Lowrey is an Emmy Award-winning journalist who is acknowledged for her work on the Anchor desk covering multiple local breaking news stories throughout the year. She has received several awards and nominations from the Associated Press and Society of Professional Journalists. In addition, Lauren has received multiple Emmy nominations and won an Emmy Award as a news anchor.
Lowrey joined Florida State University where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Communication and a minor in Theatre. She worked for a television station in Myrtle Beach, later moving to Toledo, Ohio after her graduation at the age of 20.
Lauren further moved to a more prestigious weekday morning anchor spot on “Daybreak,” replacing Joy Dumandan in January 2012 within seven months of starting at WSIH in 2011 as a weekend morning anchor.
Lauren reported daily on money matters during the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression. During her time, the morning newscast received multiple Emmy awards and an Edward R. Murrow Award for “Best Newscast” for extreme winter weather coverage.
She started her anchoring career reporting in her hometown of Myrtle Beach, SC. where she twice spent more than 13 hours reporting live on the beach as a hurricane came ashore. Lowrey is a graduate of Florida State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication and a minor in Theatre. She always had the passion and interest in making a good fit for Music City. Lauren loves country music and is a skilled singer. At one instance, she sang the National Anthem at Indiana Pacers’ regular season and playoff games eight times.
