Lauren Magiera Biography
Lauren Magiera is an American sports anchor and reporter who is currently working at WGN-TV. She joined the station in April of 2016 as the station’s first female sports anchor and reporter.
Magiera worked at the NFL Green Bay Packers, where she co-hosted a weekly 30-minute pre-game program with Packers Hall of Famer Larry McCarren, before joining the WGN News team. She hosted home games as the field reporter, published weekly feature pieces, and developed web material for Packers.com in addition to the pre-game program.
Moreover, prior to joining the Green Bay Packers, Lauren worked for various stations in a sports capacity. In 2008, she worked at ABC Alaska KIMO/FOX as the station’s sports director. She spent almost 2 years with ABC, then she moved to NBC Alaska KTUU as a sports reporter. Besides, in 2012, Magiera returned to the Midwest, working as the sports director-producer-reporter at ABC Wausau WAOW-TV in Wisconsin. Eventually, she made her way to Green Bay.
As one of Chicago’s Very Own, Magiera grew up in the Northwest suburbs. For her high school education, she attended Barrington High School from 2001 to 2005. Later on, she joined the University of Alaska Anchorage and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Public Communications on a full-ride gymnastics scholarship.
