Maddy Wierus is an American journalist who is currently working as a News Anchor on KTTC-TV FOX 47 since May 2018. Her tenure in this newsroom undoubtedly surpassed her highest ambitions. She served as the station’s main anchor, reporter, and producer.
In addition, in only one month int the job the management decided to expand the primetime newscast to an hour. Due to her journalism experience, she was familiar with the responsibility and was ready to tackle it. She also had the creative freedom to change new graphics, opens and studio spaces for reporters.
What the newscast used before the expansion was essentially unrecognizable and with the first few months of the expansion, the show pulled higher ratings. For this, she received high accolades from her superiors and colleagues for the uniqueness and exclusivity of her news broadcast. In addition, not only was she the “face of the station,” but also played a was instrumental in revamping the news product to reflect a promising new era for FOX 47.
Apart from producing and anchoring each newscast, she worked on the KTTC side of the duopoly as a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor. In addition, if a live element was available, she would also do live shots in the early evening newscasts.
A graduate of Carl Sandburg High School and Illinois State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication and Media Studies, Maddy began her career at WEEK-TV in May 2017. There, she worked as a multimedia journalist and left the station in March of 2018.
