Marcus Leshock Biography
Marcus Leshock is an American Emmy Award-winning journalist and television host who has been working at WGN-TV as a feature reporter since joining the station in 2009. Starting in September 2013, Leshock became a member of the cast on WGN Morning News each day from 4–10 am.
Marcus earned both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in Communication from NIU. While at the university, he worked at the school’s newspaper, the Northern Star, editing “The Weekender” entertainment section. He also contributed entertainment reports from the Northern Television Center. Currently, Marcus serves as an adjunct instructor at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.
Leshock anchors a “Trending News” segment where he wraps together all of the stories, videos, and photos people are sharing online at that moment – all to get you up to speed on the interesting things the world is sharing as you head out the door. Similarly, the show features a travel segment and podcast called “Coastin’ the Country” that focuses on theme parks and other fun places you can visit with your family all across America.

Prior to joining WGN News, Marcus worked as the host of Metromix on CLTV, a nightly entertainment show focusing on movies, music, fashion, food, and pop culture. His reporting and hosting career has taken him all over the world, hosting travel specials from Napa Valley, California, to Edinburgh, Scotland.
Marcus is the recipient of four Emmy Awards for his reporting and hosting work. Leshock was crowned CLTV’s Employee of the Year in 2008, as well as WGN’s Employee of the Month in April of 2010. In addition, he was named Northern Illinois University’s Distinguished Journalism Alumni of the Year in 2010.
