Marly Rivera Biography

Marly Rivera is a bilingual Puerto Rican journalist and reporter for ESPN and ESPN Deportes, offering more than 10 years of in-depth coverage of all major sports in New York. She joined ESPN as a general sports writer in 2011 and worked up her way steadily. Rivera is also a contributor to ESPN Radio and ESPN Deportes Radio.

She, later on, worked as a New York Yankees beat reporter. She currently covers ESPNDeportes.com and ESPN.com baseball and frequently contributes to national baseball broadcasts and studio programming for ESPN.

Rivera was a reporter and writer at Univision Communications and an editorial producer and author at Major League Baseball Advanced Media before joining ESPN. Rivera is the only Latina national baseball writer and ESPN and ESPN Deportes analyst and the only woman to have been a color commentator for MLB’s All-Star Game, playoffs, and World Series broadcasts for ESPN Deportes Radio.

She has been a guest contributor in Spanish and English on the outside of the Lines, SPN’s flagship network, SportsCenter, and Sunday Night Baseball throughout her career.  On October 13, 2017, Rivera was named one of “The 30 Most Influential Hispanics in Sports” by Sports Illustrated.
