Matt Franklin is an Emmy award-winning American journalist who presently anchors ABC12 News at Five, Six, and Eleven. Prior to joining ABC 12, he served as a reporter and fill-in anchor at WLNS-TV in Lansing.
Matt worked at WNEM-TV5 as a reporter. He’s also worked at WLNS in Lansing as a reporter and fill-in anchor. Franklin began working for ABC 12 News in the Tri-Cities newsroom in Saginaw in June 2004 as a general assignment reporter. Matt went on to lead the weekend morning news and First at Four after moving to Flint.
In addition, Matt has covered the changing times in Mid-Michigan as well as the Delphi Automotive and General Motors turnarounds. In 2011, he interviewed Vice President Joe Biden one-on-one. Franklin also hosts a number of events, such as the Bay City Fireworks Festival, Back to the Bricks, and Flint’s own Holiday Pops.
Furthermore, Matt has received multiple Emmy nominations and honors from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters for his work at ABC12. He was named Best Anchor by the Michigan Associated Press in 2019. He was inducted into CMU’s inaugural “10 Under 10 Class” in 2014, where he was honored for his achievements and contributions to the community.
