Matt Rivers is a renowned American journalist and is currently the international correspondent for CNN based in Mexico City. He joined CNN in 2015 from CBS 3 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he worked as a reporter. Rivers has also worked at KSAT-TV in San Antonio, Texas; and KTSM-TV in El Paso, Texas.

He has reported on a number of important stories, including the ongoing COVID-19 crisis in Mexico and Brazil. He spent several weeks this year reporting on the country’s collapsing healthcare system and vaccine rollout delays, as well as the immigration debate on the US-Mexico border.

Matt was granted unusual access to Myanmar in 2018 while reporting on the Rohingya refugee crisis for CNN and visiting areas of Rakhine State. Rivers also spoke with the wives of Reuters journalists Wa Lone and Kyaw Soe Oo, who were arrested and imprisoned in Myanmar.
