Matt Yurus Biography
Matt Yurus is an American anchor, reporter, and lawyer currently working as a weekend morning anchor, reporter, and multi-skilled journalist for 12 News. In addition, he also contributes to the 12 News I-Team. He joined 12 News back in July of 2019.
Prior to joining Team 12, Yurus worked at Dallas/Fort Worth as a digital anchor for the CBS Station Group, anchoring coverage for the CBS O&Os. Moreover, he also worked as an anchor and reporter for KTVT, the Dallas CBS affiliate.
For his education, he graduated from Middle Tennessee State University. Later on, he joined George Mason University School of Law where he graduated with a Master of Science in Journalism at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. Similarly, he also passed the New York Bar exam.
Previously, before getting the journalism “bug,” he received his chops as a law clerk for the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, as well as House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.
Furthermore, during the Obama administration, Matt was a White House Pool Reporter at Reuters, as well, he was a freelance reporter at Vice News, and interned at Politico. Also, he was freelance at WUSA as an MMJ as one of his first entries into TV.
During his free time, he likes swimming, fishing, hiking, and boating.
