Matt Zaffino Biography
Matt Zaffino is an American Meteorologist who is currently working as a Chief Meteorologist at KGW-TV in Portland, Oregon since December 1996. Prior to this, he worked as a weekend weathercaster in Portland at KATU. While there, he anchored on environmental reports and story-telling for the news. Matt is a ten-time award winner of the Oregon-associated press weathercaster.
He also helped in launching KATU’s morning and evening newscast. In addition, he did environmental reports and story-telling for the news. His career, on the other hand, kicked off after graduating from the University of Utah where he attained his master’s degree in Meteorology. He later joined WGTU as a weather forecaster.
Following his career journey, he reported on the Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia in 2000, the Winter Olympics in Utah in 2002, and the Greenland Ice Sheet on climate change research. Matt celebrated 25 years of broadcasting in the northwest and got the prestigious National Academy of Television Arts and Science.
Apart from working, he volunteers for charities like the Business Education Compact, working with the Oregon Humane Society, the American Cancer Society, the Feral Cat Coalition of Oregon, and the Medical Teams International.
