Maureen Umeh Biography
Maureen Umeh is an Emmy Award-winning American anchor/reporter who presently co-anchors Fox News Morning 4:25 am-6 am and Good Day DC 9 am-11 am. In September 2002, she joined the FOX 5 news team.
As a kid growing up in Chicago, she remembers watching the news and seeing one of her favorite reporters taking on city hall and fighting for the little person. He was like a superhero to her, and she aspired to be like him.
Maureen is also happy of having accomplished her objective of becoming a reporter, and even more so knowing that some of her stories have made a difference.
The early hours are taking some adjustments, but she’s having a blast. She says what other show can you go from covering a serious event at the White House to dancing with a celebrity and laughing till you cry with a famous comedian. It’s a frenzy, and she’s thrilled to hear from so many of you who enjoy our presentations.
Maureen’s television career began in Champaign, Illinois, many years ago. After graduating from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, she was fortunate enough to land a full-time reporting job at WCIA-TV.
Umeh put in a lot of effort to secure that position. She also hosted a radio talk show and performed as a DJ. She also worked at the TV station after writing for the campus newspaper. Maureen tried everything she could to gain the experience she needed to become a better journalist. It wasn’t always enjoyable, but it demonstrates that hard work pays off.

Her next destination was Greenville-Spartanburg, South Carolina, where she worked as a lead anchor for WSPA-late-night TV’s newscasts. She had such a wonderful time there and will cherish the memories.
In addition, Maureen has received a number of honors for her work. Among them are the Emmys for Best Investigative Series and Best Newscast. Many other organizations, including the South Carolina Television and Arts Association, the Illinois Broadcasters Association, and the NAACP, have recognized her.
Umeh worked with nonprofit groups such as Big Brothers Big Sisters and Mathew House, an agency for impoverished youth, and served as Chairwoman of the American Cancer Society’s Upstate Leadership Council. Her greatest achievement, though, is her daughter.
She is a dream come true, and she is ecstatic to be her mother. She enjoys traveling in her spare time. What Nigerian doesn’t want to be a part of that? Yes, she is Nigerian to the core. It’s where she was born, and it’s where she grew up.
