Mayra Moreno Biography
Mayra Moreno is an American Journalist who is currently working as a reporter and anchor at KTRK-TV Eyewitness News since joining the station in October 2015. She is a proud alumna of the University of Houston, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a double major in journalism and Spanish.
Her television career started as the Rio Grande Valley’s news leader, which was at KRGV-TV Channel 5 News in Weslaco, TX. While there, she covered an array of stories, from border crime issues to hurricane coverage and other problems affecting the community. A few years later, she found her way back to Houston. She worked as a fill-in anchor and reporter for KIAH-TV’s CW 39 News.
Throughout her career, she has covered many notable stories. During her time at the CW, she was one of the many journalists to report live from Fort Hood after the deadly 2009 shooting. In addition, Moreno is happy to return home to Houston. When not working she likes talking to kids at local schools about the importance of staying in school.
