Mitch Blacher Biography
Mitch Blacher is an American journalist currently working as an Investigative Reporter for NBC10. You can watch his reports during the 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts. Before joining NBC10, Mitch served as an investigative reporter at KGTV in San Diego, California. His Philadelphia beginnings date back to his family’s immigration to the United States.
Mitch is a seven-time Emmy award winner and has been awarded by the Society of Professional Journalists and also the Radio Television Digital News Association.
About his education, Blacher joined Indiana University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism. Furthermore, in 2019, he earned his MBA from Villanova University. Currently, he serves on Villanova’s Executive MBA Alumni Board.
Together with NBC10 Investigators, Blacher is committed to being the voice for people who can’t fight for themselves. He is persistent in pursuing the truth and is devoted to helping viewers in the Greater Philadelphia area.

In the wake of the Amtrak 188 derailment, Blacher was first to uncover the train safety system that could have prevented the accident but was missing on the stretch of track where it was most required.
Similarly, Mitch and the Investigators team were honored with the Sigma Delta Chi Award from the Society of Professional Journalists for the investigative series called, “Failing at Fire Drills,” which uncovered recurrent failures by the school, city, and state officials charged with the safety of Philadelphia’s and Pennsylvania’s schoolchildren.
