Monica Woods Biography
Monica Woods is an American meteorologist currently working at ABC affiliate in Sacramento, California KXTV ABC10 News. Woods joined ABC 10 in April 2001 as a weekend meteorologist and after four months switched to the morning shift. On May 31, 2011, Monica became the Chief Meteorologist at KXTV and moved to the evening news at 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 11 p.m.
Monica is a proud graduate of the University of Florida and the Mississippi State University. She graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Telecommunication in 1994 and later received a degree in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University in 1999.
Prior to joining ABC10 News, Woods worked with ABC10’s sister station, WXIA-Tv in Atlanta where she served as the morning and noon meteorologist. Before that, Monica worked as the weeknight meteorologist at KTXL-TV and morning weather personality for KRXQ-FM in Sacramento.
Monica started her broadcast meteorology career at WKAG-TV in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, where she served as the weeknight weathercaster. She is a member of the National Weather Association and holds the NWA Seal of Approval. In addition, Woods is a former president of the local chapter of the American Meteorology Society, which is comprised of current and former area weather professionals.

Woods serves on the board for Solar Cookers International, a non-profit organization that spreads solar cooking awareness and skills worldwide. She also served a term as the president of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Greater Sacramento and sat on the organization’s Board of Directors for three years.
Furthermore, Monica was a weekly volunteer at the Sacramento office of the National Weather Service, where she helped compile statistical data for new forecasting areas. When she is not forecasting, Woods likes running, swimming, and spending time with her family.
