Noma Dumezweni is a South African-British actress who rose to fame for playing the role of Queen Selina in Disney’s Live action film called The Little Mermaid in 2023. She is also recognized for winning the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Performance for her supporting role in A Raisin in Sun play held at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre. Noma even won the Best Actress Award for her role in Hermine Granger. Her other famous roles on TV are in Holby City (2006), Casualty (2012) and The Watcher (since 2022).
Dumezweni was born in Swaziland, South Africa but she spent time growing up in different African countries like Kenya and Uganda. Eventually, Noma arrived as a refugee in England, United Kingdom with her sister and mother at the age of seventeen. The family lived in Felixstowe, Suffolk before finally settling in London.
