Paula Reid is a famous American journalist currently serving as the CBS News White House correspondent. Among her known tasks is the coverage of the Special Counsel investigation of Robert Mueller and the Hillary Clinton 2016 presidential campaign. Of late, Paula has become a popular figure for pressing Donald Trump on his crisis on the 2019-20 coronavirus pandemic.
In 2005, Paula got her bachelor’s degree ; a dual degree in Psychology and English from the College of William & Mary. Furthermore, she graduated from Vilanova University School of Law with a Juris Doctor. She then passed her bar exams in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Later in 2016, she earned a Master of Bioethics from the Department of Medical Ethics & Health Policy at the University of Pennsylvania.
During her college studies, Paula volunteered at the Juvenile Justice Project of Lousiana in 2006. Between 2007 and 2008, she served as a legal intern at the Chester County District Attorney’s office. In addition, she worked in a judicial clerkship at the Delaware State Court immediately she was through with law school (2008-2009).
She then moved to Fox29 in Philadelphia working as a reporter. In January 2010, Reid relocated to New York City and was hired as an intern at CBS News in their investigative Unit. This marked the debut in her long term at CBS News. However, Paula did not hold that position for long as she became a production secretary for CBS Evening News in June the same year. She then held the position for one year before assuming another role of a digital journalist based out of New York City from 2011-2014.
Between 2014-2018, she was a reporter in the Washington, D.C, area joining the legal team of CBS News in Washington, D.C. While on the role, she covered the 2016 Hillary Clinton presidential campaign. This involved the reporting about the Clinton email controversy. In addition to her career profile, Paula was one of the few researchers on the ground in Charlottesville, Virginia during the Right rally. This led to the declaration of a state of emergency by Terry McAuliffe.
Begining in 2017, Paula covered the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C, for CBS News. She further led the CBS network coverage of the Special Counsel investigation of Robert Mueller. In one of the White House press briefings, Sarah Sanders stated that Donal Trump could fire Mueller if he wanted to do so. In response, Paula pointed out that this was not legally allowed.
Her position as the Washington correspondent for CBS News was tasked to her in April 2018. In her position, she covered the Justice Department, the White House, and legal affairs. In 2018, she pressed Trump on his border policies and strategies.
However, in April 2019, Paula was named the CBS News White House Correspondent. In addition, she attended the daily Trump press briefings during the 2019-2020 COVID-19 pandemic. One highlighted section of her work in this role was when she questions trump on his preparedness on the COVID-19 pandemic after the China travel ban.
