Raquel Martin is an American journalist currently working as a Washington D.C. Correspondent with Nexstar Media Group since March 2019. He joined the group from WCIA3 in Springfield, Illinois where he was a Statehouse reporter and producer covering Illinois politics. Martin can shoot, write, edit, produce, and enterprise stories.
After interning at U-T TV in San Diego in 2014, Raquel landed her first job as an assistant news producer at KUSI Television in San Diego, California. She worked there for 5 months until January 2015. Immediately, she joined (KABC-TV) ABC7 News in the Greater Los Angeles Area, working as an assignment editor.
After spending two years at ABC7, Martin shifted to ABC27 (WCIA) in Springfield, Illinois Area where she worked as a statehouse reporter. Currently, Martin has worked at Nexstar Media Group as a Washington DC Correspondent since March 2019 when she left WCIA.
Martin joined the Washington D.C. bureau in March 2019 from ABC27 in Springfield, Illinois where she worked as a Statehouse reporter/producer covering Illinois politics. At the station, she interviewed numerous political leaders while reporting on major political stories.
Some of her notable stories include the state’s historic budget impasse, the 2008 Congressional midterm election, and the Illinois governor’s race. In addition, she covered visits by notable personalities like President Donald J. Trump and Vice President Mike Prince.
Martin graduated from San Diego State University with a B.A. in journalism and a major in political science. She then landed an internship at NBC San Diego as well as the San Diego Union-Tribune.
