Rich Luterman Biography

Rich Luterman is an American meteorologist who currently works as a Chief Meteorologist at FOX 2 News. He joined the FOX 2 Weather Authority Team in 1997. You can see him every weeknight during the 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 10 p.m., and 11 p.m. newscasts. Luterman received the American Meteorological Society (AMS) Seal of Approval in 1994.

Rich, a native of Pittsburgh, earned a Bachelor of Science in meteorology from Penn State University in 1988. He was commissioned a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force ROTC and served as a weather officer for four and a half years on active service. During Operation Desert Storm in 1991, he was a weather detachment commander for six months.

Rich worked as the head meteorologist at WKTV in Utica, New York, after leaving the Air Force.

Additionally, Luterman gives back to the community by sharing his understanding of weather with young students. After being diagnosed with diabetes in 2012, he also works with the American Diabetes Association to increase awareness. Luterman is also involved with Veteran’s organizations in Southeast Michigan.
