Richard Osman Biography
Richard Osman is an English comedian, television presenter, producer, writer, and creator of the BBC One television quiz show Pointless. He has presented the BBC’s two quiz shows, Two Tribes, and Richard Osman’s House of Games. He has also been a team captain on the comedy panel show Insert Name Here and The Fake News Show. Osman gained recognition for his appearances on many British panel shows.
He attended and graduated from Warden Park School in Cuckfield. While still at school, he gained his first broadcasting experience. This was a regular contributor to Turn It Up. From 1989 to 1992, he studied politics and sociology at Trinity College. There he was a contemporary of Pointless co-presenter Alexander Armstrong, who read English.
He began his career working as an executive producer on British game shows. These shows included Deal or No Deal, among others. Osman was the creative director at the TV company Endemol UK. He created the short-lived 2013 IT gameshow Prize Island. Additionally, he acted as script editor for BBC One’s Total Wipeout. In 1999, he created and wrote the Channel 4 sitcom Boyz Unlimited with David Williams and Matt Lucas. In 2015, Osman co-created and co-wrote the animated Channel 4 sitcom Bromwell High. However, he left Endemol in 2020.
