Rob Schmitt is an American journalist and news anchor who is currently working as the main host and presenter of a nightly news program on Newsmax TV. Previously, Schmitt worked as a co-host and anchor for Fox & Friends on Fox News until August 2020.
Schmitt attended the Emie Pyle School of Journalism at Indiana University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast journalism. He also worked at the school’s campus media station, where he sharpened his journalism skills.

Rob joined WPLG-TV, the ABC affiliate based in Miami, Florida as a weekend news anchor. However, he was later arrested in January 2009 for alleged domestic violence. Schmitt then posted a bail of $1500 and was released on his own recognizance. After two months, the case was canceled citing a lack of sufficient evidence.
In 2011, Rob joined CBS Los Angeles as an anchor and in 2013 became an anchor at WNBC-TV in New York City. In 2016, he moved to Fox News where he served as co-host on Fox Nation with Carley Shimkus and worked as a co-anchor of Fox & Friends First with Jillian Mele.
However, in August 2020, Schmitt ceased appearances on Fox and started appearing in Newsmax content. He hosts his own show called Rob Schmitt Tonight, which premiered on Newsmax on December 21, 2020.
