Samantha LaRocca is an American meteorologist working for WHEC in Rochester New York. She joins WHEC from WETM. At WETM, she worked as a Morning Meteorologist. LaRocca attended and graduated from Monmouth University in West Long Branch, New Jersey. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in communication with a concentration in Broadcast radio & television.
Being a member of the student management in University television, LaRocca created the first weather segment called “Weather You’ve Heard.” Her passion for weather made her further her studies in Meteorology at Mississippi State University.
Before LaRocca joined WETM, she spent one year at WLOX on the Mississippi Gulf Coast learning more about the business. She credits her news and weather trades for these positions as well as the many internships she achieved while in college. Her first job was wt ABC7 where she worked as an anchor and reporter for the station’s On Your Side New York segment.
Her internship at FOX29 in Philadelphia ignited her passion for weather forecasting. At FOX29, LaRocca got the opportunity to work alongside an accomplished, Emmy-award-winning meteorologist, Nikki Rudd which helped her better her meteorological skills. Her experience at Fox led her to get a job at WHEC marking a new chapter in her career journey.
