Sarah Verser Biography
Sarah Verser is an Alabama-born American journalist who has currently worked as an anchor for WBRC FOX6 since 1989. She anchors the 5:00-5:30 and 6 On Your Side each weekday. She formerly hosted The Four for 4 1/2 years and was a member of the Good Day Alabama crew for 16 years, where she greeted you every morning.
Sarah is also an award-winning education reporter. She received The Alabama Broadcasters Association’s Best in Broadcasting and the Associated Press’ Best Specialized Reporter Awards for her segments, What’s Right With Our Schools and At Your School.
The Birmingham Association of Black Journalists, the Alabama Literacy Council, the Birmingham City Council, and the State Board of Education have all presented her with awards. She also received the Bill Miller Friend of Education Award for Outstanding Contributions to Education from the Alabama Association of Elementary School Administrators, as well as a special place on the Alabama Association of School Boards’ Statewide Education Media Honor Roll.
What’s Right With Our Schools highlights the many accomplishments of students and teachers that would otherwise go unnoticed. Sarah is a member of the Leadership Birmingham Hurricane Class. Sarah will be helping out on stage during the Birmingham Komen Race for the Cure. She’s also an author of children’s books.
Verser started her career as a reporter for WKBW-TV, Buffalo’s Channel 7 Eyewitness. She also reported for the weekly Public Affairs show “Buffalo Beat” when she was there.
