Sophia Choi Biography
Sophia Choi is an American journalist who is currently working as a news anchor at WSB-TV, an ABC affiliate in Atlanta, Georgia. She anchors the station’s Action News on Saturday and Sunday. Furthermore, she is a general assignment reporter for the station during the weekdays. Prior to joining her current station, she worked at KVBC-TV, an NBC affiliate in Las Vegas, Nevada.
This eloquent journalist attended Hollywood Elementary School. Later on after her father’s death, she attended Briarcrest Baptist High School. Furthermore, she attended the University of Missouri in Columbia. There she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism. While still in college, she worked at the University’s television station KOMU-TV. She also worked at KBIA. KBIA was the university’s radio station.
Her professional career began at WSET-TV in Lynchburg. She began off as a general assignment reporter. Later on, she joined WVTM-TV where she worked her way up from a general assignment reporter to a weekend morning anchor. Additionally, she worked at KCBS-TV, the CBS affiliate in Los Angeles. There, she started off as a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor. However, she was promoted and became a prime-time anchor for CNN Headline News. She also covered various breaking news stories.
In 2006, she left CNN Headline News. She then traveled to Shangai, China with the University of Missouri School of Journalism. In 2007, she joined KVBC-TV, the NBC affiliate in Las Vegas. This eloquent journalist co-anchored First News 3 at Four and News 3 at Six with Kendall Tenney. In 2010, she began anchoring First News 3 at Four with Jeff Gillan and News 3 at Six with Jim Synder.
On May 28, 2010, she was notified by KVBC that her contract would not be renewed. She debuted on WSB-TV on July 8, 2011, with a report on Channel 2 Action News.
