Stephanie Abrams Biography

Stephanie Abrams is a popular American television meteorologist who has worked for The Weather Channel (TWC) since 2003. She presently co-hosts AMHQ early weekday mornings with Jim Cantore and Jen Carfagno.

Abrams, a graduate of Space Camp, obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in geography with a minor in mathematics from the University of Florida in Gainesville. She was elected to Phi Beta Kappa after her graduation with honors. She was an active member of the Delta Phi Epsilon sorority and served as the chapter’s President.

Abrams earned her second degree from Florida State University (FSU) in Tallahassee, where she earned a B.S. in meteorology. Abrams, like other meteorology students at Florida State, practiced live forecasting on FSU Live, student-run news, and weather production on a Tallahassee cable channel. She worked as a teaching assistant at FSU, where she taught a meteorology class. “I think the professors made a difference because they were so engaged with the kids, and there were tiny classes there, so it was very good that the class hung out together, and it was nice to have that sort of environment,” she said of FSU.

Stephanie’s got her first job as a morning meteorologist at WTXL in Tallahassee, Florida, an ABC affiliate. She began working for The Weather Channel as a reporter and fill-in in July 2003, a position she held until 2005, when she joined her first show, Weekend View, as a co-host. She kicked off her career as an on-camera meteorologist in 2006 as a co-host of Abrams and Bettes: Beyond the Forecast, and later moved on to Weather Center with Mike Bettes.

Stephanie started co-hosting Wake Up along with Al Roker on weekday mornings from NBC studios in New York on July 20, 2009. Moreover, she filled in for Al Roker on Today and joined Sam Champion on America’s Morning Headquarters on occasion (AMHQ). Abrams and Roker covered the 2010 Winter Olympics live from Vancouver for Wake Up With Al and AMHQ from February 8 to 28. After Wake Up With Al was canceled in 2015, Abrams went back to work at the Weather Channel’s Atlanta studios.

When Bill Karins and Janice Huff left Weekend Today in 2012, Abrams was the interim weather anchor until Dylan Dreyer arrived. From 2012 to 2013, Stephanie co-hosted The Weather Channel shows On The Radar and Morning Rush (previously Your Weather Today) on weekdays.

As of now, Abrams co-hosts AMHQ along with Jen Carfagno and Jim Cantore.
