Stephanie Scurlock is an American Emmy Award-winning journalist currently working as an anchor and reporter for WREG-TV, a CBS affiliate station in Memphis, Tennessee. She anchors News Channel 3 at 5,6 and 10 each weekday. Scurlock counts her blessing the opportunities she has had to use her profession to help those in need. Prior to joining WREG-TV, Stephanie worked as a news anchor in Texarkana, Texas at KTAL-TV.
She joined WREG-TV in July 191 as a reporter and has covered stories all over the Mid-South. Her reporting duties have even taken her as far as the continent of Africa. Stephanie traveled by the Tennessee Air National Guard to Dakar, Senegal to report on a humanitarian mission.
The plane took computers, clothes, school supplies, and other necessities to children who lived in the country. Upon her return, she helped a man bring his sick wife and children from Senegal to Memphis for treatment. Moreover, she is the only Memphis reporter to cover the case of the West Memphis 3 from the time of their arrest and convictions in 1994 until their release 18 years later.
Scurlock received a Regional Emmy for her work on WREG’s Memphis on a Mission Project. SHe further profiled the plight of Memphians in their efforts to overcome poverty and crime in their neighborhoods. Her work has also been recognized by the TN Associated Press. The organization awarded her Best Enterprise for her exclusive story following the difficulties of a man fighting off a drug addiction.
Stephanie serves as a board member of RISE, a charitable organization that helps Memphians achieve financial self-sufficiency. She also served as Honorary Chair of the NAACP Membership Campaign.
