Steve Nielsen Biography
Steve Nielsen is an American journalist currently working as a reporter for Fox 10 News since joining the team in January 2020. Born and raised in California, but later falls in love with Phoenix while getting his degree at the Cronkite School at Arizona State.
Steve spent almost a decade n the East Coast reporting for WPRi-TV in Rhode Island. He also stood just feet away as FBI agents raided the Rhode Island House Speaker’s office. Later on, the speaker pleaded guilty to bribery.
Nielsen attended multiple Super Bowls covering the Patriots, reported in Fenway Park as the Red Sox won the World Series, and even interviewed the players at the Little League World Series.
His reporting in Rhode Island earned him 7 New England Emmy nominations. He also featured nationally on Fox News in the days after the Boston Marathon Bombing. Steve is most proud of his work covering more than 50 cold cases in one year. His coverage further helped detectives receive hundreds of tips on the region’s most challenging investigations.
Before his service in the Ocean State, Nielsen spent two years cutting his teeth in the mornings at KFDX in Wichita Falls, Texas. In the evenings, Steve pursued his master’s degree in International Relations at Midwestern State University.
Steve interned in college at several Phoenix television and radio stations. He has always wanted to come back to the desert and cherishes the chance he currently has to tell stories in Phoenix.
