Taryn Asher is a renowned American Emmy award-winning journalist who is currently serving as a news anchor and reporter at Fox 2 News in Detroit, Michigan. Asher anchors The Edge show at 11 p.m. alongside Huel Perkins. Prior to joining Fox 2 News, Taryn worked as a reporter and a news anchor at WJRT ABC 12 in Flint, Michigan.
Asher was born and raised in Fenton, Michigan, and attended Powers Catholic High School in Flint. She later joined Michigan State University in 1993 and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Political Science.
Since she was eight years old, Asher always had a dream of becoming a broadcast journalist. She is proof that dreams do come true. Currently, Taryn works as a weeknight anchor of Fox 2 News at 6:30 p.m. with Roop Taj and The Edge at 11 P.m. with Huel Perkins. The two are quite good friends and colleagues.
After working as an anchor/ reporter at Lansing’s CBS station my career took me to Flint and ABC12 where she met her now-husband, Jason Carr. From working as the 5 p.m. news anchor in Flint, Asher moved to Fox 2 News in 2007.
Throughout her career, Asher covered everything from Presidents and politics to more dangerous crimes and taking on those who are responsible. She even helped in changing the state law to ban the sale of synthetic drugs.
She has won 4 Emmy Awards and multiple awards from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters and Associated Press. During her free time, Taryn likes spending time with her family, friends, and her two dogs Violet and Charli Tickles. She practices yoga and runs. In addition, she loves to snow ski and travel.
