Randy Wimbley Biography
Randy Wimbley is an American journalist who works as a news reporter and fill-in anchor for Fox 2 News, WJBK-TV in Southfield, Michigan. In July of 2013, he became a member of the station’s staff.
Wimbley grew up in Southfield, Michigan, and was born in Detroit. He went to Farmington Hills Harrison High School. Randy, later went on to Bowling Green State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism in 2007. Randy has wanted to be a reporter since he was a child, as he saw himself in the field presenting tales that audiences wanted to hear and needed to know. He worked as an intern at Fox 2 News while in college.
Wimbley worked with a lot of great, committed, and enthusiastic people who reinforced his desire to be a reporter one day. His career has carried him all throughout the country, from mid-Michigan to Memphis. Randy has covered a wide range of stories, from exposing a corrupt politician to the century’s worst flood on the Mississippi River. It was returning to Motown from Memphis. He’d returned home and gotten right to work. During Wimbley’s first month on the job, he covered the contentious 2013 Detroit Mayoral Primary Race. It inspired him to go out and locate additional stories that the viewers were interested in hearing.

Randy also knew he was in the correct position because he was working at a station whose motto is “Working for You.” He is aware that some people believe Detroit is doomed, but he does not. Randy feels that the tale of Detroit’s resurgence is still being written, and he wants to be a part of it.
He also gets the honor of emceeing the 7th Annual Salute to Diversity Conference, which honors those who make a difference in their communities and in the workplace. He’s delighted that his wife and family will be able to visit the city where he grew up.
Before joining Fox 2 News, he served at ABC 24 WPTY News in Memphis as a reporter from July 2010 to July 2013. Moreover, he also worked at WNEM TV5 News as a reporter from May 2007 to June 2010.
