Terrell Brown is an American news anchor currently working for ABC 7 Eyewitness News since April 2014. He anchors the station’s 4:30 to 7:30 am news and also the 11 am weekday newscasts at the WLS-TV in Chicago. In his career, Terrell was recognized with an Emmy award for “Best News Anchor” in the Chicago/Midwest Emmy Awards competition.
Brown attended Matoaca High School in Chesterfield County. During his high school years, he founded the school’s television production which has been active since then. He then joined Commonwealth University in Richmond and graduated with honors in 2009. Later on, Brown was awarded a full-term scholarship by National Press Club for broadcasting excellence on television.
Brown joined ABC 7 Eyewitness News in April 2014 as a general assignment reporter and contributing anchor. During his service in ABC 7, Brown has anchored extensive coverage of the 2016 Chicago Cubs World Series Championship win. He has also reported live from natural disasters, telling the stories of people in Coal City and Fairdale, Illinois, after tornadoes devastated their hometowns.
Terrell’s ability to make his viewers and audience feel at home has made him a fit for most of ABC 7’s programs. He frequently fills in as co-host of Chicago’s #1 daytime talk show, Windy City LIVE. In addition, he has hosted ABC 7’s Pride Parade broadcast, the Columbus Day Parade, and the one-hour nationally syndicated special, The Magnificent Mile Lights Festival.

Terrell hosted two events for the City of Chicago (DCASE), the 2019 Chicago Gospel Music Festival as well as the 2018 Chicago SummerDance Celebration. He also hosted the Boys and Girls Clubs of America Midwest Youth of the Year” Celebration, sponsored by Disney. Moreover, was a regularly featured reporter on the Bud Billiken Parade, the largest African-American parade, and the second-largest parade in the United States. He is also a frequent host in Chicago’s highest-rated local program each year, ABC 7’s New Year’s Eve special, Countdown Chicago.
Prior to joining ABC7 Eyewitness News, Terrell worked as an anchor/correspondent at CBS News. At the station, he anchored Up to the Minute, the CBS Morning News, and served as a fill-in anchor for the weekend editions of the CBS Evening News. On the other hand, he covered some of the nation’s biggest stories, including the Boston Marathon bombing and the BP Gulf oil spill in his correspondent position.
Brown has reported live from the White House lawn and the United States Capitol during healthcare reform and looming government shutdowns. He also worked at CBS News between 2009 and 2014. Starting in 2005, Brown worked for WWBT-TV, the NBC station in Richmond, Virginia, as an anchor/reporter until 2009.
He has emceed Chicago police and firefighter graduation ceremonies. He has also worked with dozens of local organizations to provide help and relief to at-risk youth on Chicago’s South Side.
A few months after he joined ABC 7, Terrell showed his courage after he volunteered to ride with the U.S. Navy Blue Angels at the Air & Water Show.
