Thomasin McKenzie is a New Zealand actress who is famous for her role her minor role in The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies. Most notably, she rose to critical prominence with the lead role in Debra Granik’s 2018 drama film Leave No Trace. Born in Wellington, she graduated from Samuel Marsden Collegiate School in 2018.
She first appeared in the 2012 film Existence, along with her brother. Her acting debut on the other hand was in 2014, portraying the teenage Louise Nicholas in the film Consent. In 2015, she played Pixie Hannah in the soap opera Shortland Street, and in 2016, she played the titular character in the children’s comedy web series Lucy Lewis Can’t Lose.
Later on, she would be featured in a small role in The King where she played Queen Philippa of Denmark 2019. In the same year, she played a principal supporting role in the satirical comedy-drama Jojo Rabbit. McKenzie was cast in Top Gun: Maverick, but dropped out in favor of other projects, such as the crome drama Lost Girls.
In 2021, she joined the television adaptation of Kate Atkinson’s Life After Life, playing the main character, Ursula Todd. She is set to portray American gymnast Kerri Strug in Perfect, directed by Olivia Wilde and Eileen with Anne Hathaway.
