Tom Llamas is an American Emmy Award-winning journalist, currently working as a senior national correspondent and anchor for NBC News Now, hosting Top Story with Tom Llamas and serving as an interim news anchor for Today. He joined NBC News on May 3, 2021. Previously, he worked as the weekend anchor for World News Tonight for the American Broadcasting Company from 2014 to 2021. He then left ABC News for rival NBC News, with his last ABC broadcast being on January 31, 2021.
Llamas was born in Miami, Florida. He attended the Belen Jesuit Preparatory School in Miami. Later on, he joined Loyola University, in New Orleans, Louisiana, and he was a member of the LA Gamma chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon. Tom graduated in May 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism, drama, and speech.
