Tom Lyden Biography
Tom Lyden is a well-known American journalist, currently working as an investigative reporter for FOX 9 News in Minneapolis-St. Paul. Lyden has served as an investigative reporter for more than 26 years, covering and uncovering some of the biggest stories in the Twin Cities. Lyden started his career in newspapers at the Daily Star Progress in LA and Habra, California.
For the past years, Tom has focused on extensive reporting as part of the FOX 9 Investigators. His reports have led to politicians’ resignations, new laws, putting criminals behind bars, and the governor’s open hostility. Additionally, he has also uncovered a religious cult operating in Minnesota whose leader, Barnard, sexually assaulted his underage followers. His report led to an international manhunt for Barnard, resulting in his capture, conviction, and incarceration.
Additionally, his reporting on the mysterious death of conspiracy filmmaker David Crowley was featured in a full-length documentary. He is a part of FOX 9’s ” jump team” to cover news far from home. This has led to him bringing home stories to Minnesota viewers from New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina, the massacre at Virginia Tech, and the hunt for serial killer Andrew Cunanan in Miami. Luckily, Tom has been honored with more than 20 Regional Emmy Awards, and also 5 Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards for his coverage in reporting.
