Tracy Butler is an American Meteorologist best known for hosting ABC 7 News This Morning. She also serves as a meteorologist for the station’s 11 am Newscast and gives weather updates for ESPN 1000 Radio.
Butler studied at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania where she graduated with a B.S. in Broadcasting. Afterward, she went to Mississippi State University where she received her meteorology certification in 2001.
Butler started her career in 1988 at WTRF-TV in Wheeling, West Virginia as a weathercaster. Afterward, she joined WFMJ-TV in Youngstown, Ohio where she was the chief weather anchor until 1991. Moreover, Butler then joined the WRIC-TV news team in Richmond, Virginia. She anchored the morning and noon weathercasts.
In 1993, Butler joined ABC and served as a fill-in anchor on the morning show Good Morning America until 2002. Additionally, she is a member of the National Weather Association and the American Meteorological Society. In 2014, Tracy together with the ABC 7 Weather Team was recognized with an Emmy Award for the special ‘Surviving the Storm’.
In 1994, she started working as a fill-in weather anchor for Tony Perkins and Spencer Christian on Good Morning America at ABC. Later, she joined ABC 7 News This Morning as a meteorologist. She has worked there since 1995 and has served in this position ever since.
Additionally, Butler works at 11 AM as a meteorologist and ESPN 1000 Radio where she provides weather updates. Butler also co-hosts ABC 7’s annual summer broadcast of the Chicago Air and Water Show. Moreover, she formed Weather Sketcher’s Club where she promotes children’s talents. She motivates children to send their weather-related drawings which are likely to be aired on ABC 7 News This Morning.
