Vic Carter Biography
Vic Carter is an American journalist currently working as an anchor and reporter at WJZ-TV since joining the station in 1995. For a period of 30 years, he has approached his job with this philosophy. He has followed stories and taken viewers worldwide; from the jungles of Columbia in South America.
In addition, he was the only Baltimore television journalist to take viewers to the funeral of Pope John Paul II at the Vatican in Italy. For six days Vic anchored WJZ’s coverage live from Italy. Furthermore, he has covered some of the world’s biggest news stories that hit the headlines. Since 1995, he has been delivering the news for WJZ where he currently anchors the 4, 6, and 11 newscasts.
His stories in the television show he is an accomplished journalist who is more than willing to leave the studio and take on the tough stories. In his career, he has met and interviewed six Presidents of the United States and other notables in contemporary history, including Rosa Parks and many others.

Most notably, his career began days after graduating with honors from Morehead State University. He currently serves on the board of trustees for the MSU Foundation and has been a visiting lecturer and Black Scholar Residence. His career path has taken him to jobs at WSET-TV in Lynchburg, WRAL-TV in Raleigh, WSB-TV in Atlanta, and finally WJZ-TV in Baltimore. At the age of 23, he received broadcasting’s highest honor, the George Foster Peabody Award.
In addition, he was named Journalist of the Year by The School of Journalists at the University of Georgia and was inducted into the National Association for Black Journalists Hall of Fame. He believes in helping to make the Baltimore community stronger by volunteering his time and lending his energy to a number of non-profit organizations.
