Alexander Skarsgård Biography
Alexander Skarsgård is a Swedish actor who served in the Swedish military before embarking on his career. He started his acting career at the age of 7 but quit at the age of 13. On his return from the Swedish Military, he got his first role in the US comedy Zoolander. He went on to play Brad Colbert in the miniseries Generation Kill and also portrayed vampire Eric Northman in the television series True Blood from 2008 to 2014.
After quitting acting at the age of 13 due to being uncomfortable with the fame that came with acting, he applied to perform his national service at the age of 19. He served in the Swedish Armed Forces, in the SakJakt unit, and the SakJakt unit that dealt with anti-sabotage and anti-terrorism in the Stockholm archipelago. Alexander served in the military for 18 months and after he completed his service in 1996, he left the Army.
He later attended Leeds Metropolitan University in England for six months. Furthermore, he enrolled to study English but admits he did not study much and “had a blast” instead. While there, he was to pursue an architecture career but chose acting instead. He enrolled in a theatre course at Marymount Manhattan College and moved to New York City.
After six months he returned to Sweden and in no time he began landing roles in film, television, and theatrical productions. His first big break was with the miniseries Generation Kill in 2008. From here, Alexander went on to appear, star, and co-star in many famous movies and series of all time.
Recently he starred in the 2021 monster film Godzilla vs. Kong. He also portrayed Amleth in the epic film The Northman which was released in April 2022. In addition, he is set to appear in the thriller Infinity Pool.
