Algee Smith is an American actor and singer who rose to fame for playing Chris McKay’s role on HBO’s drama series, Euphoria. He also gained national recognition for playing Ralph Tresvant in a BET Network original series called The New Edition Story. Smith also played Marcus Simms’ role in a 2014 film called Earth to Echo. His other famous supporting roles are in films and TV series like Detroit (2017), Judas and the Black Messiah (2021), Let it Shine (2012) and How To Rock (2012) among others.
Smith was born in the suburbs of Saginaw, Michigan but he grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. His parents relocated to Atlanta when Smith was only eight years old. This is where his passion for acting and music really grew. Algee’s father is also a musician who influenced Smith’s sound since he was a little boy. Therefore, he was deeply involved with art and music that he even completed his first rap reading and writing at the age of nine. Smith even bagged several minor roles in TV series while he was home-schooled. After high school, Algee moved from Atlanta to Los Angeles, California at the age of twenty to pursue his career in acting and music.

He then auditioned for the role of Ralph Tresvan on BET’s The New Edition Story where he showcased his abilities as an amazing performer.
