Anthony Farnell Biography
Anthony Farnell is a Canadian Meteorologist who is currently working as a chief meteorologist for Global News Toronto. He developed a love for weather at quite a young age. At elementary school, he remembers spending most of his time looking out the window at developing clouds. This was one of the things that ignited his love for the weather.
One of the major events that sparked his love for the weather was an event in 1998, the “Ice Storm of the Century. Anthony went on with his passion and gained a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology from Lyndon State College in 2003. After graduating, he began his on-air career at KPAX in Missoula, Montana. There he worked as a morning meteorologist.
Later in 2005, he returned to Montreal where he briefly worked at Bellator Energy, trading weather derivatives. In the same year, he joined Global Montreal’s evening newscast but quickly moved to Global Toronto in 2006. There he became a Chief Meteorologist and has since covered many major stories.
In addition, he has been a long-time supporter of the Michael Garron Hospital. He helps out several local charities, including Muscular Dystrophy Canada, among others. He has also been an ambassador for Engage and Changes for more than a decade. When off his duties, he loves hiking, biking, and skiing.
